Endpoint management

Keeping every device an employee works on configured, updated, protected and supported.

Written by NiteshReviewed by BryantUpdated 2026-09-09

An endpoint is any device somebody works on: laptop, desktop, phone, tablet. Managing them means setup, patching, antivirus, configuration and fixing whatever has gone wrong, across the whole fleet rather than one machine at a time.

At small-office scale the work is dominated by two things: setting up and tearing down machines as people join and leave, and the steady drip of slow-machine, will-not-print, lost-the-driver problems.

The pricing question is whether it is billed per device or per person, and that difference is usually larger than the difference between providers.

What it costs

We price per person rather than per device, so a laptop, a phone and a tablet are one charge. Per-device management typically runs $50 to $150 per endpoint, which is how a three-device employee ends up billed three times.

What counts as an endpoint?

Any device an employee works on. Whether phones and tablets are counted, and billed, differs between providers and is worth asking directly.

Is endpoint management the same as endpoint security?

No. Management is configuration, patching and support. Security is detection and response tooling on top, usually sold as an add-on.
